Smoke Tree Poetry in Motion is a fabulous stallion prospect and show pony extraordinaire, with an incredible imported pedigree that traces to countless champions here and in the United Kingdom. At his first show as a yearling, he was named Pony Hunter Breeding Champion, twice! His movement is unparalleled by any other, and extremely correct conformationally. He is incredibly intelligent while maintaining a kind, lovable temperament. Poet is truly a one in a million pony!

We are incredibly excited to announce he has been genetically tested to be a 'smoky black', which means he will pass on one copy of the dilute gene 50% of the time. In other words, he can sire palomino, buckskin or smoky black foals with a non-dilute mare. If this seems confusing, check out our pages specifically dedicated to smoky black and dilute ponies!

Family History

One of Poet's full sisters, Smoke Tree Starlet, placed 2nd at Devon and 6th at Upperville as a two year old in 2012. She has since been purchased as a Small Pony Hunter prospect and will be shown under saddle by her new owners. His other sister, Smoke Tree Black Pearl is owned by Lorelei Welsh Ponies and is currently in-foal and expecting in August of 2013.

Poet is the last son to be sired by *Smoke Tree Spun Gold before his death in early 2013, sadly following his breeder Kathy Reese of the Smoke Tree Welsh Ponies. While not a big show competitor himself, Spun Gold has produced several winners in the hunters, dressage, and in-hand who collectively earned him his sire LOM.

He is out of the imported mare *Smoke Tree Pentewyn, who is by Boston Bentick. Boston Bentick is the sire of several incredible ponies, including the Royal Welsh Champion Eyarth Beau Geste, who himself sired the extraordinary stallions *Wedderlie Mardi Gras, *Wedderlie Maradonna, *Mynach Master Class, and *Mynach Mystical.
